Biren was interviewed in today's (Mon, 27 Jun) ST Life! in one of the articles featuring Pan Ling Ling. Quote:
"Life! later spoke to one of her friends and acting peers about this, former award-winning MediaCorp actress Huang Biren, 41, who says: "Every actor needs to 'kai qiao' (Chinese for getting one's ideas together) and know how to draw the audiences in with his performance."
Huang, who has known Pan for more than 20 years, adds: "I believe that's what the producers meant when they said her acting was not 'real'. But it depends on them to 'wake' the actors up."
... But Huang says after watching Breakout on TV, she was confident that Pan would get the award: "The character she played is not as loud compared to the ones by Cynthia Koh and Ann Kok, but I felt it had more depth to it."

Janelle's Birthday Party 2011
